MDP Statement on Senate Health Care Vote
Senate Republicans Vote In Favor of MTP Without Knowing What It Is They’re Voting For
LANSING — The Michigan Democratic Party issued the following statement today, on behalf of Chief Operating Officer Lavora Barnes, regarding the Senate Republican vote this afternoon to move forward with possible repeal of the Affordable Care Act:
“Republicans in the U.S. Senate committed a blatant act of malice toward the American people today, all to appease a feckless, illegitimate president, who only cares about himself. With one-fifth of our economy at stake, and tens of millions of lives hanging in the balance, Senate Republicans voted to move forward with a plan they’ve never seen and have no clue as to what it will contain. Their actions today are the very definition of reckless, irresponsible, and cowardly. If it wasn’t already clear, the Republican agenda has nothing to do with fixing health care or helping the American people; it consists entirely of a blind obsession with destroying the legacy of a President whose shoes Donald Trump isn’t fit to shine, let alone fill.”
