The Snyder Snub & Schuette’s Very, Very Bad Week
Whether it’s the Snyder Snub and the RGA getting shaky on Schuette, or NBC, Politico, and a top GOP strategist forecasting that the race for Michigan governor is shifting toward Democrats — Bill Schuette had a very, very bad week.
“The Snyder Snub comes at a crushing time for Bill Schuette’s campaign. He’s still suffering from the GOP civil war and desperately trying to run from his record of trying to rip healthcare away from people with pre-existing health conditions,” said Michigan Democratic Party Spokesperson Sam Newton. “Then again, after a thirty-year political career of saying and doing anything to benefit himself and special interests, it’s no surprise that Schuette’s campaign is falling flat.”
Here’s a roundup of Schuette’s very, very bad week:
Tuesday: The RGA is getting shaky on Schuette’s campaign, with the Detroit Free Press reporting: “Republican Governor’s Association is shifting $1.5 million in advertising money away from key voting markets.”

Wednesday: NBC bumped Michigan up from #7 to #5 on its list of “top gubernatorial races that could switch parties.” Just the day before, Politico rated Michigan’s race for governor as “Lean Democratic.”
In another “blow to the sitting, two-term Attorney General,” the Michigan Association of Police Organizations endorsed Gretchen Whitmer over Bill Schuette.

Thursday: In another sign Schuette is still suffering from the GOP civil war, WZZM reported that he can’t even secure an endorsement from Michigan’s sitting Republican governor. As the Detroit Metro Times wrote: “So much for party unity.”
Meanwhile, a review from Bridge Magazine’s “Truth Squad” confirmed the accuracy of the Michigan Democratic Party’s attacks on Schuette’s record of trying to rip healthcare away from people with pre-existing health conditions.

Friday: Top Republican strategist for Governor Rick Snyder’s campaigns — John Yob — told reporters on WKAR’s “Off the Record” that Schuette is in “deep trouble.” He also predicted Democrats will take back the governor’s office, saying for Schuette that: “I think it’s more of a question whether it’s a double digit loss or not.
