#ThrowbackThursday: Schuette ‘Encouraged Foot-Dragging’ & is ‘Not a Friend’ When it Comes to Sunshine in Government
LANSING — In recognition of Sunshine Week, the Michigan Democratic Party is throwing it back to this past December when Bill Schuette received sharp criticism for using his office to hide his record from the public.
- In a piece called “Bill Schuette encourages foot-dragging when it comes to your right to know,” Michigan Radio’s Jack Lessenbery said: “The attorney general seems to be giving officials a green light to stonewall.”
- And The County Press Editorial Board wrote that Schuette “is not a friend to citizens and the press who want to use public information to keep government honest.”
“It’s going to be tough for Bill Schuette to hide from his record of using tricks and legal schemes to keep the government closed to the public,” added Michigan Democratic Party spokesperson Sam Newton. “Working families in Michigan want a new voice that will promote transparency in Lansing — not someone who has been caught using his office to hide his record from the public.”
