The problem is that the F35 hasn’t been designed to enable ‘the way it’s always been done’. It relies on the software package to monitor and manage the maintenance program rather than having to strip and inspect the aircraft after every flight. It was meant to save time and money as it could provide continuous monitoring of the airframe and subsystems. The way it’s working now means that it can’t be trusted to provide that data requiring additional inspections to check the reliability of the information it does provide.
