WHEN CHRISTIANS BREAK BAD — Letters from the Insane, Inane and Profane by Bonnie Weinstein — A Review
Bonnie Weinstein, Co-Founder of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation and wife of Founder and President Mikey Weinstein, has written a splendid sequel to her first book.
Her first book, the shocking and insightful “To the Far Right Christian Hater…You Can Be a Good Speller or Hater, but You Can’t Be Both” (Rare Bird Books, 2015), was a concerned conversation about contemptuous communications from semi-literate pseudo-Christians anemically but abhorrently attacking the Foundation, its Founder and President, the author and her family, and everyone affiliated with them.
It provided an informative introduction to their non-profit constitutional rights organization dedicated solely to protecting the lawful right of our military men and women to freedom of religion, comparative copies of the countless hate mail received from hate-filled hypocrites who claim to be Christians, the author’s cogent commentaries concerning them, and some of the Foundation’s achievements.
Her new book, “When Christians Break Bad — Letters from the Insane, Inane and Profane” (Rare Bird Books, 2019), continues the critical commentary about malicious messages from moronic and malevolent pseudo-Christians received by the Foundation with all new material and expands her meaningful moral messaging. There are colorful illustrations at the beginning of each chapter as in her first book.
It begins with an informative introduction to our secular Constitution, its separation of church and state, and the secular military. It continues with exposure of more hate mail received and this time includes replies by the Foundation President, superior staff and numerous volunteers. Every email received by the Foundation receives a response and both are promptly posted on the Foundation’s public website (militaryreligiousfreedom.org). The author’s rational and reasoned commentaries throughout the book enhance its enduring enlightenment.
Both works were written from inside the severe storm of hypocritical hatred hurled at her husband, herself, their family, and the Foundation by fanatical fundamentalist Christians. These repugnant religionists demand their right to freedom of religion but would deny the same right to others. The egregious evil and enmity possessed and promoted by such pernicious and perverted people constitute a very sad commentary on their regressive religion and makes a mockery of their human morality. They do not seem to comprehend it only reflects on themselves. Moreover, it is anti-American.
Bonnie Weinstein is not only an accomplished author, but also a wise and witty women, super spouse, marvelous mother and grandmother, and proud patriot selflessly serving the belief freedom of our American military men and women through the Military Religious Freedom Foundation created by her and her husband.
Her latest written work is a must read for every American who respects our United States Constitution, believes men and women serving in the United States Armed Forces should enjoy the same right to freedom of religion to which all Americans are entitled, and desires to be made aware of the fundamentalist fanatics of Christianity who want to undermine the religious liberty of fellow Americans serving our country in the military by hatefully attacking those who protect and preserve it. I recommend its reading and reflection unequivocally.
