LOL, I had the link to this in an email, but I didn’t see it until AFTER I did my own investigations into Jekyll and Octopuses a few days ago(and many others too).

No doubt there is a steep learning curve for static generators at the moment, but I think the author is correct to point out the real alternatives from without the normal CMS space rather than incremental innovations from direct competitors to WordPress.
