I’m a busy person. As I’ve talked about in prior blog posts, the idea for MacroFuel came about because I was too busy to prepare healthy meals. Yet last night I found myself in an odd situation — I had free time.
I had just finished a great leg workout at the gym. My work for the day was done, my girlfriend is back at college so I couldn’t go bother her, and I live in a town with a population smaller than the average attendance at a division 3 football game. So, I decided to do the unthinkable.
I decided to cook for myself.
Since launching MacroFuel a few people have told me I should experiment with using the product beyond just a regular meal replacement shake. I was always worried to — largely because I am an absolutely terrible cook. Yet last night I finally went for it.
It was so worth it.
I looked up a standard pancake recipe, and simply replaced all the dry ingredients with MacroFuel. I was sure it was going to be awful — but after flipping the first pancake and seeing a nice golden brown crust, I had a glimmer of hope.
After spreading a little butter and maple syrup on top, I was shocked upon my first bite. I would have been happy with anything that was palatable, but I never expected to really enjoy the meal. MacroFuel was created to be healthy, and serve as a great pre-workout meal, but it was never created to make good pancakes. That was pure luck.
The ingredients/amounts I used for the pancakes are included below:
- 96g MacroFuel
- 1 Cup Skim Milk
- 1 Egg
- A pinch of salt, baking soda, and splash of white vinegar.
After mixing these ingredients together the rest of the process was no different than regular pancakes. The macro breakdown of the pancakes is included below:
- 39g Protein
- 68g Carbohydrates
- 8g Fat
If any of you have a chance to try these, make sure to reach out and let me know how you like them. Also, if you have any other ideas for cooking with MacroFuel please pass them along!
