How NASA created 7 Earths

A few days ago I was writing about how we create our own future based on the biased experiences we collect in every moment here.
On 22 Feb 2017 NASA announced that it found 7 Earth-like exoplanets.
Did I know on 19th about this development? Of course not. Surprised? Also not!
What’s more interesting is what we think that we might find there. I foresee two options (as I come from a binary culture):
- species similar to us or
- nothing (i.e. we do not recognise the lifeform), and we will keep looking.
It all depends on us, or more precisely, on every individual reader of this blog, as someone who does not read these lines will also have a different understanding of those planets.
The discovery is not surprising at all if you know the “story” of discovering the American continent (or any continent or any neighbouring island etc). Humans explore and find species that are similar and others that are not that similar. They mostly connect with the similar ones, that they call “intelligent” life.
Explore
On one hand they wipe out those by their ignorance as we did with Indian tribes, or use them as slaves as we did with African population. After some time we would realise our misdeeds and put aside even the racial differences. Just as we do these days with diminishing racism, some faster than others.
Colonise
On the other hand when we go back to known places, we usually try to “control” it. We recolonise those areas with capital and/or thoughts — like the ideas of “freedom” and “liberty” to less developed nations (less developed as we “Westerners” thing about it).
All in all neither really matters. The species on those planets are probably perfectly happy without us and will see our arrival as an introsion leading to fights or they have already left the seeds of the idea of their existence (maybe by me discussing it) and so they have a clever way of colonising us.
End of the day, its all up to you, my reader, so might as well enjoy it!
Have a great ride!
