Top 5 Tips to Improve for Madden 15

The 5 Most Important Things Nobody is Doing

What’s up Madden Gamers? Cody here and today we are going to be taking a look at something we as Madden players sometimes overlook and miss the value of. Today’s video series is all about getting back to the basics. Back to the basics is an interesting title and sometimes we as gamers feel like we don’t need to go back to the beginning, but sometimes around this time of year when I am somewhat ready for the next madden I will reevaluate my schemes and basic gameplay for next season. So what I would like to talk about today is the Top 5 ways you can start improving right now for Madden 15 that all have to do with something so simple you may not have even thought about it.

Number 1: Get an Identity

First things first is to identify your game and figure out what you want to be doing. For example, offense in Madden has two main options run and pass. So figure out do I want to be running or do I want to be throwing, over the past seasons in Madden we have seen that the most successful gamers have chosen a pass heavy approach, but in the recent NFL years we have almost seen a reemergence of the running game, and how we can become more run heavy from otherwise pass heavy personnel. So with that being said also consider defense. Are you a blitz happy or a coverage player? What do you do best and have the most success doing? In the big picture schemes come and go, but your identity as a Madden player will never change. So with all that in mind I invite you to begin considering what type of player you want to be in Madden 15.

Number 2: Develop Concepts

After you have developed your identity you must develop your playbook. For example we see SGIBS change his playbook week to week, but in large part we see a majority of the same concepts. So maybe you’re a pass heavy player, so then you would want to go about researching different passing concepts that can fit into your personal strengths. Hopefully that makes sense, but more on that in the videos to come, but generally speaking when you are getting back to basics you want to get back into what makes a scheme and having the 5 sets for success, as well as fitting your concepts around it because a play does not carry over playbook to playbook, but a concept does.

Number 3: Work on Your Reads

Probably the biggest thing you can do when preparing for a new game is trying to work on how a defense and offense works. For example you have probably heard the basic principles and differences of a cover 2, cover 3, and cover 4. It all has to do with the safeties, but what you can do right now to start getting better for next year is learning how to identify the safeties and diagnose the coverage pre-snap. Defensively I like to say you want to begin trying to read where specific formations are weak. For example, trips te is weak to the te side because there is no real deep streak on the outside to beat a cover 0 to that side so one thing you may consider if you are running a cover 3 is shading the safeties to the trips side. That is just one example of a much larger concept, but begin thinking about simple fundamentals of how formations work, schemes are put together, and tendencies are shown.

Number 4: Stop being lazy

One thing I am guilty of is being lazy in my setups and my adjustments. For example if I am running the strong close hb off tackle and I have a read that gives me a lane to the left then I will playmaker it to the left, but if I have a read to run it to the right I will just run it. Tell me what is wrong with that scenario? I didn’t make it look the same and did not fake playmaker it. Little things like that get your fingers in the habit of always making everything look the same no matter what. The importance of a scheme is making things look similar, but going in different directions.

Number 5: Get Involved

Guys Madden is much more than a game, it is a community. Get involved on forums and in the community in general. Talk to people about your struggles, but do it respectively. Talk with other websites about their view on the same situations or struggles you have, get different opinions. Go the extra mile guys and make a difference in the community. There are so many ways to get involved on MaddenTips.com alone, and I encourage to engage others in conversations, but again in a respectful way. Don’t be that guy everyone hates because he is always talking about the negative side of whatever he is struggling with. Like Gibs always says “Burn a Calorie” get involved and push the envelope because when you begin thinking outside the box and talking to others not only does your game rise, but also the other person and entire community gets that much stronger. Don’t waste your resources, and Good Luck on the Road to improving for Madden 25.
