Made in Heaven! The story of HELL!
“There’s a lady who’s sure All that glitters is gold” — Led Zeppelin. A perfect and subtle description of Tara Khanna, The main protagonist of this series. Made in heaven — a book of few subtle stories, a picture journal of few sacred photographs, a film of few vulnerable characters and finally a Prime original TV series with amazing direction, vivacious cinematography, and a bold storyline.
The story mainly revolves around the two main characters, Karan and Tara. They are wedding planners. Ironically they are doing everything except planning the wedding. Zoya Akhtar and Alankrita Shrivastava were absolutely brilliant in character development. This series is covering almost every aspect of Indian society. whether it’s homosexuality or molestation, this show describes every prevalent issue in a darkest possible manner.
Whether it’s the nomad Adil Khanna or the quirky Kabir, everyone has justified their roles in most amazing way possible. Made in heaven is the much-needed tv series in the current scenario, where everything else is just about sex scene without context. it could have been just a mainstream tv series but things that made this extraordinary are the subtle and dark twists. The landlord of Karan who also has homosexual feelings but couldn’t express it, sweet innocent girl Jaspreet sleeping with a mechanic in garage in her bad phase, Tara’s shady past and till what extent she could go to achieve what she wanted, Faiza sleeping with her best friend’s husband and blaming her current trauma behind that. But the most beautiful thing was about KABIR. For me, he was the main character of this series.
Why KABIR? every other character in this series has its own problems, their own traumas, but not Kabir. If you analyze the character then you would find that he is the saddest of all. I tell you how! When you have no problems in your life or you don’t pay attention to the problems you have, you are fucked! Because this is the exact point from which there are two ways, either you will be in fool’s paradise or you will be in a hell of misery. And thankfully Kabir is in the later part. Where you feel that there are darkness and misery in every situation, his ending speeches has the charm to fuck your heads up! He feels the onus to change the wrong societal norms. He was in “Made in heaven” because of the documentary, and the reason was portrayed subtly by the directors. In every problem except one or two, Kabir was the guy who took charge for solutions. And that’s why he is the most important character of the plot, without him “made in heaven” is not possible.
Tara and Karan have the best chemistry, they stood by each other in every situation. It’s like they have a soft spot for each other. It would have been darker if they would have shared a past then tara ditched him for Adil. And after that, they are just friends. Just my Opinion.
I feel there should be the 2nd season of it, there are still many issues which has to be addressed by “made in heaven”. All in all, out of all the glittering things “MADE IN HEAVEN” is a perfect gold.
