In this article, Sontag is making the argument that cinema has started to decline from its former glory and becoming a dying art. She claims that film has followed a steady path; a birth followed by a steady rise to popularity and fame and finally a sudden and “irreversible decline.” I completely agree with Sontag here because there has become a decline in cinema and movie going. Nowadays with the increase in popularity and the decrease in price of renting and buying movies from providers such as Redbox and subscribing to providers such as Netflix, going to the movies is becoming outdated quickly.
