If you want to learn a new language or anything at all — you need to start guessing.

- Guessing, huh?
- Yeah, and guess why I started with guessing.

Looking for patterns

The act of guessing makes you think about the problem. Otherwise, it’s just a random, uneducated guess — but I’m not talking about those.

If I make you guess something, you immediately will try to figure out the correct answer based on what you actually know. You will try to predict correct answer based on the patterns you can find.

You don’t simply just guess. Do you?

Think about it

If I ask you to guess how old I am, will you simply just guess and pick a random number like 37 or 543? Or will you look at my profile picture and try to estimate my correct age?

Your brain is a pattern making machine.

It looks for whatever you tell it to look for.

If I make you guess something, you look for the patterns that will allow you to make that guess.

What is a language if not a set of structural patterns? You need to learn to notice things about the language.

Breaking your barriers

And lastly, if you learn how to guess, you will be actually prepared to guess.

What does it mean?

To guess — it means to be prepared to say out loud something you think is correct, but there is high probability that it’s completely wrong.

That’s guessing for ya.

And if you think about it, it’s exactly the process of getting rid of the language barrier.

Sneaky! Any other problems you want me to solve? 😅
