Suryanagar ke Saahasi is a relatively new show that is being aired by Maha Cartoon TV. Another entertaining Hindi Cartoon, it has received a very warm reception from the kids. While it is a cocktail of multiple genres like other cartoon shows — be it action, humor and fantasy; it has been conferred with a lot of love by the audience. Following the success of Plantimon and Bali — The Jungle Warrior, Suryanagar ke Saahasi has quickly garnered a healthy viewership.

There are a few reasons that can justify the triumph of the show. First of them is the concept. Suryanagar ke Saahasi is about two kids who are predicted to bring peace and harmony to the Sun City and put a halt to the tyranny of the Mushroom King and his alias. The kids embark on a journey to not only polish their abilities and train for the battle but also, defeat the monsters that come in their way.

The fun part in the story is that none of the stern-like theme imbued in the screenplay is executed that way. Rather the seriousness is covered by the relentless self-depreciating humor. All the characters, in spite of how heroic they seem like are nothing more than a bunch of happy-go-lucky fellas who neither have a spine of a true warrior, nor are they adamant about making a change in the society but they do what they do– just for the sake of earning popularity and are saved every time through luck.

In contrast to the trend of bestowing the kids with characters that aren’t flawed; Suryanagar ke Saahasi does the opposite. It presents the viewers with leads that are as erroneous as they are. Be it Jackson or Suzi — they are very easier to relate with, especially if compared with several other cartoon characters that are too good to be real.

Secondly, the pacing of the show is water tight. Every episode plays like a single event from the life diary of Jackson and Suzi. The crisp run time helps in getting two things right — first, the entertainment quotient; and second — the right balance between action and character development. Considering that kids don’t largely care about character development but the punches, Suryanagar hits the bulls eye.

Thirdly, the action and animation is up to the mark of the films and live-action television shows produced these days. All the chases, sword fights, are brilliantly done. They not only keep the viewer engaged but for the most part, enthralled as well. Furthermore, the show satisfies the basic reason behind yearning of watching animated shows i.e. the factor of escapism. Films and cartoon shows render us with worlds and stories that are out-of-the-box. While they entertain us, they are primarily a medium of escapism from reality. And in that context, Suryanagar ke Sahaasi is worth watching.

The show airs every Monday to Saturday on Maha Cartoon TV. Its episodes can be watched online on Maha Cartoon TV XD. Subscribe to the channel for timely updates on the show and other programs to come.
