“We CAN change the world … one brain at a time.” –MM

Don’t believe what you read. A world without Alzheimer’s is exceedingly unlikely. I decry so-called charities like Alz.org and researchers who don’t share their data and brazenly take billions whilst claiming they’re seeking a “cure” or are “near to finding” sustainable “new drugs / treatments.” MY brain fires off too-many questions at once — including: Where’s the money to help families in the meantime?

ButAND Betty’s Mantra is UPlifting and proves daily: We / you / every family CAN enJOY journeys through even the saddest experiences with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, autism, Down syndrome, Parkinson’s, PTSD, CTE and TBI…anything that causes Thinking Not Working.™

Follow along as I share ‘The’ Betty’s Wisdom. Want to understand WHY MY Brain’s Compelled on behalf of YOUR Brain, too? O! Please ask.

Meantime, please remember — pun intended: I have Alzheimer’s/dementia in both bloodlines for two generations (at least): my beloved Mom, ‘The’ Betty; three of four Grandparents; six Aunts & Uncles. For them and the 10,000s of families worldwide with whom I’ve had the privilege of working — and God Knows how many millions of families who still wend their way without education, encouragement, or comfort — MY brain cannot not scream….

Cracked Bells Ring True©

If none God’s Call had taken up,
if Jesus did pass on “this Cup:”
Would not the Words that He did say
still guide / affect some to this day?

If one stands in a field, alone,
and, with one voice, others’ cries own:
Is one bell, not heard, a lament
rung but in vain? What’s effort meant?

If there were one voice raised in need
and, in its raising, planting seed
for others’ platforms to succeed:
Does that lone voice all its worth cede?

Or, more: Should that lone voice just cease?
Would the needs it pleads decrease?
Does it matter? Matters not.
The crier pleads for those forgot —

who, in ‘forgetting,’ are dismissed –
whose needs are rendered, sans assist,
to facts and figures and their worth –
the money’s, not those whose needs birth

the cry. It does not facts, monies extol.
It matters not if e’er enroll
platform-ers with the proper focus
on those living … in their locus.

Would that all would soon condole
those whose lives ring higher toll:
The families whose lives shattered be.
Cry on. The bell? It tolls for thee.

For tho others see ‘memory’ crack –
tho my one voice may be sole flack –
the message must not all eschew:
Cracked bells still ring. The cry rings true.

Cracked Bells Ring True© responds to dementia fundraisers’ and others’ claims of ‘breaking news’ re the needs and care of Alzheimer families [not ‘news’ — as empowering families has been my Compellment for 30+ years] and is inspired by John Donne’s Meditation XVII, 1624:

“No man is an Island, intire of it selfe;
every man is a peece of the Continent, a part of the maine
if a Clod bee washed away by the Sea, Europe is the lesse,
as well as if a Promontorie were,
as well as if a Mannor of thy friends or of thine owne were;
any mans death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankinde;
And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls;
It tolls for thee.”
