Asian-Americans and African-Americans inherently don’t share the same history in the United States.

The elitist attitude in your response is disgusting.

Shame on you, Asian community for claiming to “support people of all colors” but only showing up with 10,000 people when you can’t kill a black man and get off like white officers.

This isn’t a debate, blacks DO have it worse as they’ve been systematically oppressed and at the bottom of the totem pole in America since it’s birth. You’re trying to compare the Chinese exclusion act to the Transatlantic slave trade which is bullshit in it’s finest serving. Black people were forced to create Black Lives Matter because we are being killed every TWENTY-EIGHT HOURS IN THIS COUNTRY. The people that kill us are RARELY convicted, if even.

So to say that Asian-Americans face the same or “equal” oppression from white America is not only ludicrous but down right insulting. When Asian kids are profiled as thugs and shot on sight, and I see videos of them being shot dead in the street regularly, or there’s a new Asian name trending on twitter daily because they were gunned down, then you can say we share the same experience. Until then, you can save your victim blaming. I shouldn’t have to explain to you that blacks are oppressed on an entirely different scale than asians, your local newsfeed should be doing that for you, as should the response by the Asian community to Peter Liang.

So no, I don’t want to help you, nor do I want to aid you in your struggle because you have clearly shown you place yourself on a higher tier and don’t understand the magnitude of institutionalized racism in this country. I haven’t seen Asian-Americans say “I’m actively helping people of all colors.” What I HAVE seen Asian-Americans say is “Free Peter Liang.” Your help comes in the form of sympathizing with a killer and spitting on his victim.

Do not act like Mother Teresa in all of this. Your community’s actions speak louder than your racist words. I have no interest in working with someone who does not only belittle my oppression, but aids in it as you and your community do. It’s not my job to build up minority communities that refuse to fix the anti-blackness within their community. I owe nothing to a group of people that have no problem exclaiming their willingness to drag me through the mud if my Asian killer gets off free.

I challenge you to comprehend everything I said above, specifically institutionalized racism, 28 hours, and the fact that a movement titled Black Lives Matter exists. I also challenge you to deal with anti-blackness in your community instead of aiding it, as well as understanding the challenges and stereotypes African-Americans face in this country, as opposed to what Asian-Americans face. One of us gets killed on a regular basis due to our stereotypes, and it’s not you.

When you’re ready to understand that you are not America’s nemesis, and real victim here is the black man, Akai Gurley, and not the racist Asian-Americans calling for his release/reduced sentence, maybe we can sit down and have a chat. Until then you can continue to delude yourself by pretending you’re actively helping all communities of color while your own community simultaneously supports a murderer.

Shame.

On.

You.
