ManTalks is Coming to Medium

Dear Medium Readers,

Wow! I just got back from a 3-week trip that kicked off with the first ever ManTalks event in Toronto followed by the first Los Angeles event.

I wanted to take a moment to share some of the lessons of this expansion with you all.

COMMUNITY — First — THANK YOU. I’m so impressed and motivated by our community. Because of you, people are hearing the ManTalks message and taking part in these important conversations. You’re telling friends and they’re coming to our events.

We sold out Toronto, and it was mostly on the back of word of mouth. We were featured in a bunch of big media outlets in advance of our first Toronto event, but what got most people out was the ManTalks community spreading the word. This tells me that we’re doing something right.

We appreciate and love every time you share what we’re up to with your friends. Please continue to do it. Every time you share it allows this movement to help another person.

CONNECTION — The world is starved for real, open, vulnerable conversation. Everyone at our events — speakers and audience alike — shared openly in a way most were surprised by.

People are craving these types of conversations, yet SO FEW are having them. The speakers shared their truth and it was powerful. Bullshit doesn’t sell, the truth does. We live in a society full of lies, false advertising, and fake people. That’s why the truth is so damned powerful.

It’s a refreshing message that cuts through the BS like a hot knife through butter.

BUSINESS — I learned a lot of business lessons from our expansion, too. First — expansion can’t happen alone. Strategic partnerships are everything. What benefits two people in a strategic partnership can benefit thousands of other people, but without working together nobody else benefits.

As a result of our expansion we now have the opportunity to help and influence thousands of new people. Event organizers from a dozen cities have reached out as a result of seeing us expand to these first two cities.

But far more importantly, hundreds of new people have connected with like-minded individuals in their community.

CALL TO ACTION — We need you to help this message grow. Please share your favorite podcast, blog post, and tell friends when you’re going to a future event.

The conversations happening at ManTalks events and in our digital spaces are some of the most important anywhere on earth right now. Please help us spread this message.
