Just Get Better

Day Something

Don’t worry about perfection — it is never going to come. Instead, focus on getting better. How do you do that? Just get to work. Is it that simplistic? Well, yes, it is. Maybe it’s too simplistic. But I do know that not doing anything is not going to get you any better. It is a fast track to a big ball of nothingness. You’re going to have to do it when you don’t want to and when you don’t feel like it. You’re going to have to work when no one cares or is watching. You’re going to have to work when you’ve lost the initial spark. You’re going to have to re-calibrate. You’re going to have to find yourself, over and over again.

You’re going to need to be your own coach, pastor, teacher and editor sometimes. I’m not saying you can’t find real-life mentors, but at the end of the day, it’s only you. No one else is going to do this for you. No one else cares as much as about your hopes and dreams as you do. But don’t get selfish, because just because they are your hopes and dreams doesn’t mean that they belong to you. Sure, you’re the one that has to find the motivation and the dedication, but people are counting on you to share your gifts — whatever they may be. The better you get, the more of a blessing you can be to someone else.

So stop worrying about perfection, just get better.
