2 Habits You Need to Stay Healthy While Running Your Small Business

You are the heart of your business. The time you spend away from work on activities that nourish your mind and body is like blood pumping to that heart. Without a strong, reliable heart at its core, your business will suffer.

In other words, you must take care of your health if you wish to have a healthy business. That means striking a good work-life balance. The goal is to prioritize your own wellness, both mental and physical.

“The most important habit for small business owners, and the one most often skipped, is to take care of you first,” said Nicole Bandes, CEO of the Productivity Expert personal coaching firm.

Bandes prescribes two things to all of the small business owners she works with:

  1. Get plenty of sleep.
  2. Exercise regularly.

“Doing so will provide you enough fuel to sustain the large amounts of stress” that come with being self-employed, Bandes said.

Seems obvious, right? But every small business owner knows how easy it is to ignore these two things when you’re putting in a 60-hour workweek.

These are the first activities you should build into your schedule every week, Bandes advises business owners. Get more work-life balance tips from the productivity experts in this quick video:
