The last Sneak Peek was about the Limited Supply Reward System and the new dashboard of MapleStory N.

To recap, MapleStory N issues items in limited quantities, and these items cannot be purchased from the Premium Cashshop — they can only be acquired through gameplay. This contrasts with the traditional MMORPGs, where items are issued without limit and can be bought from the Premium Cashshop.

Today, I am going to introduce the Demand-driven Pricing system, which works alongside the Limited Supply Reward system to shape the economy of MapleStory N.

Demand-driven Pricing

The economy of MapleStory N resembles the real-world economy. All in-game transactions, item purchases, and enhancements are conducted using in-game currencies. The values of items, goods, and even enhancement prices are determined by market economy principles.

If many players are enhancing certain item, the cost of enhancement increases. Conversely, if fewer players chose to enhance a item, the enhancement cost for the item decreases. This is what we call a Demand-driven Pricing system.

Through previous FGT, we’ve seen users strategically leverage this system.

For instance, the cost to enhance unpopular items is low due to low demand. Players have taken advantage of this by heavily enhancing these items to improve their performance, then trading them at favorable prices in the marketplace.

As popular items are more expensive, players are motivated to develop unique item sets rather than trying to get the so-called “S tier” items.

This naturally increased the demand for a variety of items, helping to stabilize marketplace prices.

MapleStory N’s Limited Supply Reward and Demand-Driven Pricing systems encourage users to develop diverse strategies and offer them options to grow their characters and items by making the most of different items.

These systems are key to maintaining a stable in-game economy.
