How Being A Woman Is Hard

As much as I love being a woman, I would be lying if I said that being a woman is easy. And I’m not only talking about the big gaps in gender pay and global leadership. I’m talking about the EVERYDAY things that make life harder just because I got the XX chromosome, such as: always looking behind my shoulder when walking alone, getting unwanted attention, being extra careful about what I wear, what I say, what I publish on social media, not being able to be nice to everyone because some might think I’m flirting…

For every girl, there’s a man trying to influence her behavior and decisions. I am beyond blessed to be able to live by my own standards and be the master of my own destiny. I believe that every single girl on this planet should be able to do the same.

In a male-dominated world that keeps telling us to “act like a lady, think like a man, look like a young girl and work like a horse”, I refuse to:

  • Change myself to accommodate others’ expectations
  • Put my dreams on hold
  • Remain silent
  • Settle for less
  • Stop learning
  • Judge other women

Courage is contagious and I believe that women can empower other women and ignite our energy to grow together.

Being a woman is a challenge, is a blessing, is an opportunity, is a journey.

Happy International Women’s Day! 💜
