A Few Things The Golden Girls Can Teach Us About Retirement

Get yourself a savings account, girl! It is one of the best things I ever did. Admittedly, I tend to end up using my savings (plane tickets home for Christmas, Surprise! glasses when the old ones break, etc.), but I’m definitely in better shape than if I didn’t have it at all. And YES to frugal hobbies: I work at a university, and access to the campus library is the best thing ever — I can read books and get all kinds of DVDs (and they even deliver them to my office). Plus, finding frugal alternatives for things: I still do weekly manicures and facials, but I do those myself at home. It can work, and it can be deeply satisfying.
