There’s a really great episode of the Food52 podcast, “Burnt Toast”, where Garrett Oliver (the beer guy) talks about the idea of “plonk” — that decent, not-great, inexpensive, drinkable wine. It’s one to which I am particularly attached, and a term that I think describes box wine perfectly. Also, “tacky drunk American wine raccoons” is the best term ever, and I will be using it all the time starting now.
