#MEOnLoveMondays: 3. #MawninLove
For a few weeks I will be sharing with you my take on love. This is #MEOnLoveMondays. Read at your own risk. Remember it’s not gospel. Interpret as you desire. Share your take as well. This is #MEOnLove.

Well this week we tackle #MawninLove. I prefer referring to it as ‘Mawnin’ Love’ as it feels a bit more sensual than ‘Morning Sex’, plus most times someone is waking up beside you, it’s probably a bit more than a wham bam shakalaka boom boom!…Well, most times ;)
Time of intimacy…Who really cares? Does it matter? Does the time make it any better? And why? I’m sure there are scientific reasons as to why it should be better. You have your biggest meal in the morning to provide you with good energy throughout the day. You drink coffee in the morning to ensure you stay awake during the day. So why not make love in the morning, to give you endorphins and sexy mental images to think about all day. I’m sure that could definitely un-dampen some smug Monday Morning Blues.

So on to the technicalities. When exactly is morning? Technically 12:01am to 11:59am is morning, so any love makin’ in that window will count, but in my mind, mawnin’ love happens when the sun is just peeking through dem windows, you have your first stretch and yawn, making your first big movements for the morning. This could be anywhere between 5–7am in my mind. You reach over and touch your partner, if you aren’t already spooned together, and the rest is history. Vibez ketch. Mawnin’ fireworks explode, and boom pow piff…It’s on. You can tell I used to watch the Batman TV show of old.
Now on to the facts:
- Only someone significant gets mawnin’ love, cuz late night booty calls don’t spend the night. They def go home immediately after, lol.
- Daytime Matey or Joe Grind comes over for lunch, so they def are not around in the mawnin’.
- This means mawnin’ love is special…always remember that.
- Morning breath is real and also sometimes special, so please have your ways of getting around that. Bedside mouth wash? Quick bathroom dash for a teeth brushing? Tic Tac? I dunno but make it right. Halitosis is a vibez bruker.
- Mawnin’ love usually leads to mawnin’ breakfast, so ensure your home is stocked with appropriate and nutritious breakfast foods to replace your well utilized energy ☺.
- Try not to be late for work. As good as it is in da mawnin’, the bills still gotta be paid. At least if they cut off the lights you can see in the mawnin’ for future mawnin’ encounters.
- Mawnin’ love is an unplanned activity. Spontaneous. Don’t ever remove the spontaneity from it, then it becomes early morning gym, which only some of us love. No alarms. No activity plans. It just happens. It just is. That’s what makes it beautiful.
- If you find you are having mawnin’ love with many partners, you may be a prostitute…I’m kidding. That also happens in the night or I guess in di early mawnin’. Let’s leave that alone.
When my Berklee friends Apollo Payton and Jonathan Howell created an awesome track one college Spring Break, I had no idea I would have been inspired to write a song called ‘Love In Di Mawnin’ to it. I truly have no idea where it channeled from. I can’t say that at that time I was verse on the topic, but I started to visualize it in my head. The chorus came first, and I wanted it to have patois in it for sure, cuz patois is sexy whether you want to believe it or not. The verses had to lead to the choruses, so I imagined the beginning of the morning with the light coming into the room, silk sheets, fantasies. Well lemme not get carried away, but this is the beauty of songwriting. You get to express any thought you have in a musical and creative form. Verse two speaks about the action. The bridge speaks about longing for the morning to come again. ”I can’t wait till the morning, cuz in the morning is the time when we make sweet love.” SHAQ the MC then puts his spin on the live version letting her know that “When di mawnin’ cum, so should we.”

I say no more my family. Do what you need to do to make your mornings more exciting, and listen to both versions of ‘Love In Di Mawnin’’ and get a copy of my new album, ‘Reggae-Soul Vol. 1: M.E. On Love’ and experience my journey through love. Also #ExperienceReggaeSoul.

I hope that #MEOnLoveMondays will awaken any part of you that has become dormant about the emotions connected to love and interacting with the human form, so that you can formulate or reformulate your take on love…#YouOnLove? I’d love to hear it.
Have a blessed and amazing Monday and rest of week till next Monday,
M.E.
