I know you felt a victory with this response, but you only helped to prove my point.

I do not feel victory as this conversation is not a game. Please, explain how I proved your point?

Below are some questions whose answers I believe would better turn your assertions into sustained arguments.

Is Hinckley’s case the norm or an outlier?

Can you provide an example of another white man who committed a similar crime to Hinckley and got the same treatment?

When did the “thousands of lynchings (hangings, shootings, murders of unarmed men before due process) before a trial” happen and what is the relevance to Hinckley?

Can you tell me why the following officer shootings from this month, Sept. 2016, went unreported by the national news and why no one seems to care about them? (There are five more, but these are just the subjects armed with guns.)

Joshua Scott, a 22-year-old white man armed with a gun, was shot on Sept. 20, 2016, in a house in Port St. Lucie, Fla. St. Lucie County deputies tried serve an order for an involuntary mental health examination. After a six-hour standoff, Scott came out shooting at SWAT members and deputies.

Joseph Allen Schlosser, a 69-year-old white man armed with a gun, was shot on Sept. 15, 2016, in Weeki Wachi, Fla. Hernando County sheriff’s deputies went to Schlosser’s residence to check on his well-being. A home health care nurse reported that he was talking about suicide and had a gun in the house with him.

Morgan Wayne Crocker, a 34-year-old white man armed with a gun, was shocked with a stun gun and shot on Sept. 15, 2016, in an apartment building in Austin, Tex. Austin police responded to reports that a man was looking into cars. When officers found Crocker, he fled on foot. Officers used a Taser on him and ordered him to show his hands. When he rolled over, he had a gun and shot at police.

Adrian Joseph Shaffer, a 37-year-old white man armed with a gun, was shot on Sept. 10, 2016, on a street in Boulder, Colo. Several people reported that a shirtless man with a weapon in his waistband was walking down a road trying to fight with traffic. Shaffer shot at a Boulder County deputy, hitting her patrol car twice. She returned fire. He died Sept. 18 from his gunshot wounds.

Francis Perry, a 32-year-old white man armed with a gun, was shot on Sept. 8, 2016, in Lakeland, Fla. Polk County sheriff’s deputies and other officers from a drug task force stopped the car Perry was driving because he was sought for arrest on a warrant. When officers approached the car, Perry began shooting at officers, who returned fire.

Donny Max Daugherty, a 36-year-old white man armed with a gun, was shot on Sept. 3, 2016, in Metropolis, Ill. Authorities said Daugherty was a suspect in an assault. After a search, an Illinois state trooper shot and killed him.

Caleb J. Douglas, an 18-year-old white man armed with a gun, was shot on Sept. 1, 2016, in Wichita, Kan. A Sedgwick County sheriff’s deputy stopped the car Douglas was driving because the officer suspected he was impaired. The sheriff’s office said that as the deputy approached the car, Douglas pointed a gun out the window at the officer.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
