Unfit to Lead

His words may be dangerous — her actual work has made the world more dangerous.

The theme of the Clinton Campaign last week was that Donald Trump is unfit to hold high office. That he lacks the judgment to be trusted with significant decisions of great importance to our national security.

That may well be true. It remains to be seen. Because Donald Trump has never worked a day in government. On the other hand, Hillary Clinton has spent every single day of her adult life either creating the government we have today, or seeking to work in it.

And the most consequential decisions that any President makes are related to the safety of the American people — protecting them from those whom would do us harm, both foreign and domestic. Of course, in order to do that any President needs to manage very sensitive information. While we don’t know how Donald Trump would manage that, we do indeed know how Hillary Clinton has managed that.

We know that Hillary Clinton took the most sensitive national security information and literally kept it in a closet in her house.

We know that Hillary Clinton walked her staff step by step through how to cut and paste top secret national security information designed to keep the American people safe, into a non-secure environment so she could read it more easily.

We know that when confronted with the above, Hillary Clinton repeatedly misrepresented to the American people precisely what she had clearly done — and it took tens of millions of taxpayers dollars and more than two years time for people to actually know the truth and consequences of her actions.

We know that the situation in Libya has imploded due to the very policies that Hillary Clinton advocated for. We know that Hillary Clinton voted for the war in Iraq, and while she is fond of suggesting that President Bush “misled” her, what is to make us think that Vladimir Putin wouldn’t similarly mislead her? We know that the instability she voted for in Iraq has led directly to the dangerous situation in Syria. We know she advocated for a reset of relations with Russia, leading to the dangerous encounters in the Ukraine and Crimea.

Donald Trump may well say things that are foolish. But he’s never worked a day in government. Hillary Clinton has actually done things that are dangerous over her decades working in government. While his words may be dangerous — her actual work has made the world more dangerous. She is absolutely right — she is indeed unfit to manage the national security affairs of the United States.

Hillary Clinton is right to tell us repeatedly that one of the candidates seeking the Presidency lacks the judgment. She has demonstrated that over many years — not through her words, but rather through her work.
