The Story

‘I created the brand from the pov of the athlete, I didn’t study fashion design or business, but when I had a serious health scare a few years ago it gave me perspective about how precious health is. I was always active but it was only when I had the health scare, I realised life is short and good health is to be treasured and appreciated. So I wanted to create a brand that spreads a message of letting your why fuel your desire to succeed in life.
A combination of a passion for sportswear, the perspective of the athlete and having a health scare, gave me the motivation to channel my why and create this brand as a constant reminder to myself to always live life with purpose and remember why I do what I do, especially when knowing that in order to reach the goals I aspire towards, it takes a lot more than talent. I asked myself while in hospital why do I want to be successful? Who do I do this for?
The fact I had little knowledge of the technicalities of actually making clothing at the time didn’t matter because I was so fuelled by the vision I had for the brand and the potential impact it could have in the lives of other people so I learned about the process, did a lot of research on materials, branding, business and then I took a part-time job at Nike for a year to learn & gain knowledge as well as having my job as a football analyst all whilst finding my way back to full health with the aspirations of getting back into competitive football again.
It’s amazing what you can achieve with the combination of gratitude and belief. It’s also crazy how a low can give you perspective and remind you of what really matters in life.
So Y-Fit was birthed initially from suffering that produced gratitude and perspective which produced hope and motivation and that fuelled the vision of creating a platform to motivate others through sportswear. The logo is a symbol of faith, hope, victory and perseverance. To achieve great things takes great faith and perseverance. Once you know your why, who you do it for, the vision and purpose becomes bigger than you, therefore you won’t give up without giving life everything you got.
‘The feeling of success outweighs the pain of the process.’
