Pronterface (formerly Printrun) is free open-source software for Windows, (earlier Macs), and Linux that controls 3D printers over USB. It contains a terminal window for targeted printer instructions and error logging, a temperature graph for heater management, and a manual control panel for axis control.
Pronterface helps configure/tune and diagnose. Pronterface is just needed to configure the printer using M-codes from the printer firmware and monitor for issues. Start Pronterface before printing and listen.
