This does not unfortunately agree with the data from the UK:

The ban happens years before the rise in gun crime in the UK halts and begins to decline. The cause for the decline is the UK police being tasked with the problem, not the two large bans of firearms in the UK nor the other changes in the firearms laws that happened concurrently.

Again, it’s a nice intuitive feel-good idea, but it does not explain the actual data seen on the ground.
