Ray Comfort Gets It Wrong — Like Always

Let’s start out by providing a link to the specific Ray Comfort piece I will be discussing in this post. Read it. It’s very very short.

In this laughable piece of Ray Comfort logic (aren't they all) he actually tries to make the argument that circular logic is a valid method of proof.

Comfort attempts to use an example of circular logic to prove his point. As typically happens when Comfort opens his mouth he sticks his foot firmly inside. He disproves his own argument because he doesn't even understand circular logic. He shows his complete lack of understanding circular logic in two ways.

The first way he proves he is clueless as to the meaning of circular logic is this: If we look into the White House and SEE the President that is reasoning based on evidence. We SAW him. Circular reasoning requires someone use two unproven assertions to prove each other. However, understanding this appears to be a level of critical thinking that is beyond Ray’s ability.

The second way: For just a moment we will suspend our logic and pretend Comfort is right when he says the Bible contains fulfilled prophecies, amazing consistencies and scientific statements. He says these things PROVE that the Bible is the ‘Word of God’. If that was actually PROVEN then saying the Bible could be used to prove the Bible would not be circular logic because you would be making your claim based on a fact.

Anytime you see Ray Comfort there is one thing you can count on. The things he says are never nearly as intelligent as he thinks.
