Diversity in Tech and what we’ve already lost

This story is frustrating, and resonates with me entirely.
It seems like a lot of the issue today is that we use our social networks to recruit people, and screen for things like “culture fit”, which are implicit, instead of explicit. Even if people are less likely to say “He can’t join us because he is Mexican,” they may say, “He isn’t a culture fit for us,” but the end result is the same — the world is robbed of a brilliant mind because it didn’t fit the expected mold.
