The Academic Ideologies that are Dividing America
Alice Atalanta, Ph.D.

I felt like I was reliving my own graduate school experience (also in Literature) while I was reading your piece. I shared a bit of that at the beginning of something I wrote about culture and community in schools on Medium this summer.

I left academic life and became an elementary school teacher after a few twists and turns. I couldn’t agree with you more about teaching and learning. In fact, the metaphor I most often use to talk about practice is the same one you use in y our article— the lens. How we position ourselves between the world and our students affects the images they see.

Thanks for sharing. I look forward to reading more!
