Microsoft To Increase Cross Platform Strength
Microsoft has got 74 partners for cross platform strengthening.
Several rumors have been circulating that Microsoft Corporation has revealed its plans to halt the smartphone manufacturing. However, this does not mean that the company will bid farewell to the smartphone fraternity. The software behemoth wants its apps on your futuristic smartphones before you actually purchase them. Recently, the company made an announcement to collaborate with 74 original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in almost 25 regions across the globe that has either started or will start the pre-installation of its products and services in tablets and smartphones running Android.
The recent industry giant that has been added to the list for the installation of Microsoft apps and services is Acer. This process will start in the next half of the current year. The company has been successful in recruiting 74 partners to its portfolio which indicates that the company is working quite hard since it made an announcement regarding the partner program touching the figure of 20 back in May, 2015. This encompasses Samsung and Cyanogen.
The venture is focused on getting the OEMs of Android so that it can embed its core offerings such as Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Skype and OneDrive in the products. The corporate Vice President of Microsoft’s OEM division, Mr. Nick Parker made an announcement via a blog post.
So far the officials belonging to the company do not publicly claim that the deals are associated with patent campaign with the help of which it got royalties for its patents via the Android manufacturers. So far, the details regarding the deal have not been revealed however, the Windows 10 giant is going to license its patent to its alliances for the pre-installation of apps.
Mr. Parker further explained that the strategic agreements made with the partners among which IP alignment is a core feature, shows that the company is taking advantage of the scale of the present ecosystem for hardware. Moreover, it is also working with partners in a unique way so that a wholesome experience is enjoyed by consumers.
Under the leadership of Mr. Satya Nadella, the chief executive officer of the company, the strategy has shifted where Microsoft is focused towards apps, services, software to hardware and Windows. The company also brags that its apps have been installed more than 100 million times on Apple iOS. Along with that, there are 20 million customers on Android who are paying for the Office 365 suite. The company also made an acquisition of Groove, a music streaming platform from Zikera- which is a Canadian startup.
