I’d like to be a little stronger. If we can go to the gym and run on treadmills until we’re capable of running a little more, if we can move weights with our arms until we’re capable of lifting a little more, what can we do to be stronger in other ways? If I help a frail senior citizen pick up her dropped Metro card in the subway, will I be able to work up the nerve to volunteer in a soup kitchen? If I do that, will I gain the confidence to give an inspirational speech? If I can tell a girl I love her, can I build up the strength to someday be a good father?
