Diederich College of Communication: Allie

“I like that it’s essentially the part of making people excited. I’ve always been so interested in so many different things, and with advertising, you can learn about all of these things and talk to all kinds of people — it’s just exciting and collaborative.”
“It was so easy to get involved. I was surprised at how accessible it was for me to get involved in Student Media, first as a copy editor for the Wire/Tribune, then an A&E reporter, then A&E editor, and now as the executive entertainment producer for MUTV. Through these positions you really get an idea of how everything works; you know everyone, and you know how everything works, so it’s so easy to collaborate with other like-minded students.”

Allie Atsalis is an upperclassman studying Advertising in the Diederich College of Communication. She transferred here from a college in Massachusetts, and has since become extremely involved in Marquette’s Student Media (learn more about it here). She’s also working developing a live broadcast show every week to accompany comedy sketches on MUTV, involving a variety of students throughout the college, most recently the theater department.

Through the College, students have a chance to participate in these outlets outside of the classroom regardless of their major. This emphasizes the chance to collaborate with different students from various majors and stretch skills beyond the classroom. Students gain real-life experience while on campus — invaluable in preparation for life in the field after graduation. The College of Communication always has something going on — learn more here.
