Hello there, I am Martha and welcome to my first ever blog post!! I’am currently a full time student studying Education at ACU. Personally, I think teachers are a potent symbol of education, becoming influential figures for future generations. For many, education is the opportunity to achieve and develop our greatest abilities, which can become beneficial for an individual and a nation. So, technically, the growth and change of a society originates in the small space of a classroom…pressure much!
Hopefully I can use this blog as a reflective journal, sharing my opinions and thoughts which will be mainly centered around technology and its involvement in today’s educational system. I agree that it is both important and beneficial to keep up with the ever-evolving world and include it in a classroom environment rather than pretending it isn’t happening. But, I also believe that there needs to be a balance between learning online and learning on ‘paper’.
I have always taken an interest in anything that involves art or being creative, so in hindsight this should be right down my ally… yeah not really. This technical creativity is new to me, which is both exciting and kind of intimidating. I guess you could say I’ve always been a person who tries to ‘think outside the box’, I know some people see everything as black and white, but I’am definitely not one of those people. It is through art that I’am able to communicate what I cannot express through words or emotions and see pass the physical dimensions of something…my subjective perspective. Yes it can be terrifying to know that my inner thoughts lie between the canvas and each individual brush stroke, with the potential for someone to criticize it, to criticize me. But then again that’s what it feels like to some people everyday, but instead of it being conveyed through a piece of art, it is shown through skin colour, race, gender or religion. My hope is that as a nation we can change this, with one mind at a time… “education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world”.
I have no idea what the future holds… but I’am excited :)
