Excellent insight and creditable research. Too many people think fascism=nazism, but it is, and always was, as Eco says, a weird mixture of emotional triggers shaped by a demagogue to match the particular irrational predjudices of a nation.

Many people forget that the US had it’s own fascist movement in the 1930's-the Silver Shirts-one that gained considerable support. ‘Day of the Locust’ should be required reading and/or viewing for Trump’s supporters before they deny irrationally (how ironic) that fascism has taken root in this election.
