The highlight of my day came early. I sat down with a non-profit leader that had been faced with the serious challenge of taking a political stance on an issue they believed in while keeping their second largest financier on the gate.
It was incredible.
The leader did exactly what we should. They answered the financiers questions with logical and a walk through and drew a line in the sand. When poised with the we’ll have to see how this impacts our grant moving forward. I’m not sure we can keep it intact.
The leader replied gracefully, sharing their hopes for a continued partnership and drawing their line in the sand.
Be about your mission is something that’s been ringing in my ears. I think allowing yourself to understand your ethos is critical, without it it seems there is not much you can be.
Unpackaging all of who you are is a challenge. And once you’ve grown to some level of comfort with who it is you are- holding that authentic self and letting others feel permission to do the same.
What an exciting future ahead of us.
