Re: the discussion about whether a character is trying to warn/save someone else or whether they are struggling for themselves…. does this have to be a binary? When I’m in a situation where I’m urgently trying to help someone avoid something I can see is wrong, I’m acting from my own experience, and I’m also simultaneously fighting my own trauma and regret from mistakes I’ve made in the past. In fact I think the act of helping others is inherently redemptive for the self.
