Anger For Good?
For a while I have been doing nothing more than thinking about publishing my views on anger and the roles it might have and the effects of it on our immediate world or beyond. To start it helps to know that anger is not a behavior; it is an emotion. Anger is much like love and they are both emotions. No one else would know about either of these emotions or any feelings until and unless there is a behavior that is an expression of these feelings.
Anger, considered a negative emotion by many, might be far from reality. Anger can develop into something that many can see if it results in bad behavior and that is when people would believe that anger is a bad thing. What is too often forgotten is that anger can be an influence to give a more positive outcome. How so?
At this point, once face-to-face with this anger it can become a tool much like a hammer. What can we do with this tool? A hammer can cause death if used the wrong way. Anger can be behind the use of a hammer to kill or what else can it do? How about if that hammer does the thing it was created to do and simply nail things together? Good use!
Surprisingly, anger can be a positive motivator or influence for good. When something needs to be done, that anger can cause an increase in strength, will, to do something good. It can help you to move furniture or sort out the clutter that surrounds you. If you are mad about something, it can help you to do something about the condition that is causing you to be mad. This way anger is not so bad at all.
Another thing that is very important is to acknowledge the anger instead of ignoring it and let it build up until there is more difficulty to deal with it in a better way. If we get into a fit of rage, much of the time because other things that can cause an increase in anger, we ignore it and do not acknowledge the anger about it. Taking a bit of time to recognize the anger for what it is, taking a few moments to make a decision about it, can lessen the stress that ignoring and letting the anger stew until there is a fit rage over something else. In a situation like this, blood pressure might mount up when the fit of rage might happen.
Remember, a person who might be the object of love, will not know about it until and unless you actually do something, behaving in a way to show that emotion, love. Same goes for anger.
Last of all, anger is an emotion that can fuel better behavior when it is harnessed by acknowledging it and acting on it immediately with nothing more than making a decision about what can be done with it. It doesn’t have to be a negative act but can be a motivator for good behavior.
