The Art of Expectation III
Living in Hopeful Expectation.
It’s time that as a people of God we learn how to live in hopeful expectation of Him. It’s time that we grasp the goodness that we stand in the presence of. To be expectant in a healthy way, you’ve got to know the one you’re expectant of. We’ve let of Hope be robbed for too long, we’re called to be a people that are wildly and passionately expectant of His goodness in our lives.
Choosing hope and choosing to be expectant of the Lord is actually the healthiest choice you can make. The Bible says in proverbs “Hope deferred makes the heart sick”. — Proverbs 13;12 — Hope is a choice, it’s not a feeling. It’s saying that when we don’t choose hope, we’re actually making ourselves sick. Hope is the catalyst of joy when you’re in the waiting. It’s not foolish to be hopeful, it’s healthy.
If you’re in a season of waiting, then the truth is you’ve got access to things in the spirit realm that you won’t have once you desires are fulfilled. You have the fulness of God available to you, just not all at the same time. There are resources and revelations reserved for specific seasons of your life.
In Psalm 56 we hear the heart of David towards the Lord after he’s captured by the Philistines. I think David nailed the Art of Expectation. Regardless of his situation, His choice ends in hope. Even though he’s caught by his enemies here, they accuse him, probably imprison him, David responds with Hope, he responds with praise and vows to the Lord
I must perform my vows to you, O God;
I will render thank offerings to you.
For you have delivered my soul from death,
yes, my feet from falling,
that I may walk before God
in the light of life.
David chooses to live in hopeful expectation even in the darkest seasons of His life. He found the access to the hidden revelations of dark seasons of his life, and hope was his light to get there.
I believe that living in hopeful expectation begins and ends with an understanding of who we’re expecting to move. When we know who He is, and understand His nature we can trust His intentions. Expectancy is an art, and it all hinges on hope. The truth is, Hope has a name, and His name is Jesus.
