Why You MUST Turn Away Prospective Clients
From experience, I can tell you that the number one way to get more clients is to turn the clients away. By turning clients away, it will give you a better sense of who your ideal clients are. It’s really important for you to understand who your best client is and you need to be willing to turn clients away.
My agency helps service providers and brands increase their revenue and exposure. The truth is, I don’t want to deal with everyone that reaches out to us. I need to know how their business works, who they are and meet them face to face, because I’m going to be investing my team’s effort into selling their products.
I find it very helpful to not accept everyone. You have to have your own conditions and your own ways of doing business. I really don’t want to work with everyone that reaches out to us.
A key strategy in building your business is to put together an application process to make people apply to work with you. If you’re just starting out and don’t have any experience, you have to get experience in some way.
Find a mentor in order to build your experience and skills. The reality is: if you want to charge premium prices and have the ability to turn clients away that don’t fit your criteria, you need to be delivering a good service.
You need to accept the fact that there are some clients you will not be working with, even if they were to pay you. If you’re selling at the moment and have multiple clients from different demographics, I highly recommend you to select one of those demographics, and work only with a smaller demographic of people who are your ideal clients.
This whole thing about positioning yourself and making clients apply will indirectly get you more sales. You will be saying no to opportunities, but you will be saying yes to the right opportunities, with things you want to do and clients you want to service.
