Life is not a sprint, it’s a marathon
Don’t make decisions you will regret 10 years from now
I’ve noticed that most of us are living life and making decision as life were a 100 meter sprint and not a marathon. Having no patience and knowing that all worthwhile things takes time. Instead most of us makes decisions today that will give us the most satisfaction today, but in 5, 10 years the most regret. For instance, watch entire seasons of TV Shows, or playing video games, or something else. Instead we should ask ourselves; ‘What decision today will I be most satisfied with 10 years from now?’
Let us not become weary of doing good, for at the right time we will reap a harvest IF we don’t give up — (Galatians 6:9)
The Dilemma of Instant Gratification
Here lays the problem, we’re living in a world right now, where we’re so used to all things being instantaneously. Oh you want to watch a TV Show? You don’t have to wait for it to be live on TV instead you can binge watch a whole season on Netflix. Oh you‘re bored? Here go on social media and youtube and be entertained etc. We have gone from a society where patience where a part of society — to the word patience being an alien word in our society.
The solution
the solution for breaking free from this instant gratification cycle and short term goal thinking — is to remember that one day — you will stand on your deathbed and have to be accountable for everything you’ve done. Will it be a life full of regrets and sadness or will it be a life where you fulfilled your potential and your talents? It’s your choice.
Think about the end-game not the shortcuts
God bless,
