We can control almost nothing

Out of all the things in the world, I can control almost none of them.

Some of them are obvious.

I can’t control the weather, for example. I know that. Everyone knows that. And yet how often do we complain about it? Is it really that important to us to complain about the weather?

But, if we were honest with ourselves, we know it’s completely out of our control, and we accept that.

But here’s something else we can’t control: results.

I can’t control how many people will read this post. If I could then I’d make everyone with an internet connection read it.

I can’t control how many people subscribe to my blog. If I could then I’d have a billion subscribers.

I can’t control how many people will buy my book. If I could then I’d be a billionaire.

So.

What is in our control?

The process.

I can control how long I spend writing this post, how carefully I edit it, how much energy I put into it.

I can control making my blog the best it can be, with easy navigation, and an awesome free giveaway, and I can make it as easy as possible for people to subscribe.

I can control writing the best book I can write, and how well I advertise it, and how often I advertise it.

Results are up to other people.

The process is up to us.

Which one requires more of our energy? Which one deserves more of our time? We have 0% control over other people and 100% control over ourselves. Which one is worth giving our all to?

Accepting and liking and loving the process.

Letting go of the results.

This is self-awareness.
