A Million Dollar Coin: What a Proportional Reasoning Provocation
I have been using this coin, which is in the Royal Ontario Museum, in some recent work.
Some people don’t make a million dollars total in their entire lives, others, could give this coin away, and not notice.
If you were counting a huge pile of Loonies (dollar coins, for those who don’t know), how long would it take to get a big enough pile to exchange for this one coin?
How long is a million seconds from now?
How far is a milllion miles? Light years?
Is a million even a big number, as far as money goes.
Great picture to spark some math. What could you do with that?
