Recap/Discussion: JRE #2171 Eric Weinstein & Terrence Howard
When I received the notification that Terrence Howard returned to The Joe Rogan Experience I was ready for another epic JRE moment. I was also pleasantly surprised that a longtime friend of the podcast, Eric Weinstein, would also be joining the show in his 7th appearance. Rogan has a great relationship with Eric and his brother Bret. Not enough can be said for Eric and his amazing insight, relatability, and composure throughout the episode.
The episode opened up with Eric Weinstein explaining his background, which includes a PhD in Mathematics, specifically mathematical physics. Weinstein also expresses his desire to help “steelman” Howard’s positions, rather than have a traditional debate on the topics at hand. At 3:34, Rogan asks Weinstein what stood out in particular about Terrence’s appearance on JRE #2152. He explains that although he opposed some of what was presented during Howard’s episode, he was more upset with the backlash that it incited from the academic community. Whether right or wrong, he feels that the criticisms that were given were rushed and lacked fundamental necessity for disagreement.
