There’s much truth to this. I joined a stoicism group in the twin cities with a hunger to broaden my horizons, not fully understanding what to expect. What I immediately found was a chilling lack of empathy and respect for most others, and yes, amongst the men, women, though there were women in the group too. I made a quiet exit from the group and forum that evening.
Stoicism wasn’t a way for me to heal from heartbreak, it was a way to grow cold and indifferent, unlearning the value of beautiful experiences while shifting blame in a most narcissistic manner.
