What We Save When We Give Up
Megan Reynolds

Mr. McDillet and I probably spend about $100 a month on alcohol, usually a 12-pack of some decent beer ($16 at Kroger) every Friday and a big bottle of booze for the month. If we’re going out, it’s usually to a friend’s house for a get-together. When we do go out out, which is pretty rare and usually tied to a show we want to see, we usually end up with a roughly $30 tab, since neither of us go for cocktails at the bar and one of us will be driving home. For reference, though, I live outside of a college town in a relatively low COL area, and would generally prefer a night of darts, movies, and card games with a bourbon and ginger ale to a night at the bar or club. To each her own.
