Thanks for sharing this! My 401(a) is all in a general “life cycle” style fund, but I also have a 403(b) supplement, which I invested partly in a “Social Choice” mutual fund TIAA CREF describes as “ favoring companies that are strong stewards of the environment; devoted to serving local communities; committed to higher labor standards; dedicated to producing high-quality and safe products; and those managed in an exemplary or ethical manner.” My yearly return on it so far is 9.11%, compared to the 6.07% return of the life cycle fund! Granted, I’m not going to run out and dump all of my 401(a) into the social choice fund, but I’m definitely thinking about making it a larger component of my portfolio.
