The big problem with Ghostbusters I think is it would have been better off as an R-rated film, or it would have been better off as a PG-rated movie. Instead at PG-13, it straddled this line of slapstick physical humor and adult humor, and the jokes didn’t land enough.

There’s no way Leslie Jones’ character wouldn’t drop multiple F-bombs for every 20 words she spoke. Her character would have been more realistic, and the film would have been better off if it was just geared towards the adult audience who grew up with GB.

The film also would have been better off if it had just been made for families because you could have taken out the 20 jokes geared towards adults that didn’t land.

The studio just wanted it both ways and in the end didn’t get either.
