Edge of Tomorrow (or Edge of our own Life?)

With Edge of Tomorrow’s Sequel in works I saw Edge of tomorrow again tonight and found out that how much that movie resonates with my life when I passed out with my Master’s Degree in Computer Science.

I thought I was going to get a job very easily as Cage gets to be a major without any actual battle experience, I was honored with Masters degree without any battle experience. When time came Cage is suddenly thrown into battle ground, as many of us are thrown into job market. Captain Cage tries to run away from his first assignment, gets bullied by battle hardened veterans, and obviously underperforms in first assignment. We get shot and kicked out.

Cage starts over again, he knows something has started in his life quite differently than others and starts to show off that he knows everything, seems like he has figured out everything but again .. he fails. Like we all do, we fail/pass our first assignment and suddenly start to think that we know everything.

He keeps on doing this again and again as we all keep doing it again and again in the first phase like we know that we know a way out and we are going to make it but alas we keep failing. For once Cage also gives up and goes into a bar in London thinking that ofcourse I am not going to win and a stranger calls him “coward”, like we all have faced those douchebags who don’t know what we have gone through, but tell us that we are “weak” or “coward” or “not worthy” and emotionally spit on our face and then Cage goes out and finds that the aliens have nevertheless again caught up to him again and killed him. Like we all face our all problems, however much we run from them, they just catch up to us until we find a way to kill it.

So, Cage sets out again to solve the alien problem and finds out a person who has also been facing the same problem. Like we all meet a person who we spend our rest of our life with. She and him try to solve problem, countless and countless of time. Like we all try to live and solve our own countless problems of our life. We are faced with an aim we thought that was going to be end but it was just a great blunder.

And in the end when we find a solution, we find some people that trust in us and go out to solve the problem of life. And in climax, Vrataski says that we both are never going to out of this situation. We both are going to die here. Like we all are going to die, separately. Vrataski dies separately and Cage dies separately. Like we all are going to die separately from our other halves, and in the end the life is a beautiful and awesome ending like we all are going to experience.

I see a lot in common with what Edge of tomorrow had to show to us in comparison to our life. I just did not find my Vrataski “yet” to share with so I am sharing with you.

I loved Edge of Tomorrow and I am eager for the second installment of this movie.
